SkillChain is a decentralized application. Unlike traditional Web2 professional networks, SkillChain interacts directly with the Solana blockchain. This means that many of your professional verifications, contract escrows, and profile credentials are public and immutable. It is essential to understand that information recorded on a blockchain cannot be changed or deleted by us or anyone else.
2. Information We Collect
2.1. Publicly Available Blockchain Data
When you use SkillChain, we collect and interact with your public wallet address and on-chain professional verifications. This information is necessary to:
- Verify your wallet address and digital asset credentials.
- Verify your completed skill assessments and non-transferable verification NFTs.
- Attribute your professional profiles, job listings, and transaction agreements to your identity.
2.2. Account & Profile Information
You may voluntarily customize your profile, which may include:
- Name, display name, username, and biography.
- Professional summary, list of skills, work experience, and educational history.
- Certifications, portfolio documents, media links, and social profile links.
Some of this metadata may be stored on decentralized storage protocols such as IPFS or public ledgers, making it publicly accessible by design.
2.3. Authentication Information
SkillChain supports secure authentication using Web3 and Web2 identity providers. Information collected during authentication may include:
- Email address and verification codes.
- Google account profile metadata (when using Google Sign-In).
- Authentication tokens provided by Privy or other integrated authentication suites.
2.4. Technical and Usage Data
We may collect certain non-identifying technical information automatically, including:
- Device details (model, operating system, and hardware status).
- Application version, build data, logs, and IP address.
- Telemetry and performance metrics to resolve bugs and optimize your experience.
2.5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use local storage on your device to remember user preferences (such as theme configuration and cached profile information) to improve app responsiveness. We do not use tracking cookies for targeted advertisement.

- Verification: To issue on-chain assessment credentials and confirm skills with cryptographic proof.
- Transactions: To facilitate peer-to-peer job escrows, gig agreements, and payment settlements in SOL and SKR.
- Security: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, platform abuse, or malicious activity.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. However, data is shared in the following scenarios:
- Solana Network: Public transactions, smart contract interactions, and verified credentials are broadcast directly to the Solana blockchain.
- Authentication & Infrastructure Providers: When using login features powered by Privy or paying via blockchain integrations, those service providers receive your public wallet details and authentication tokens.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
5. Data Security
Your security is our priority. SkillChain is designed so that:
- We never have access to your private keys. They remain secured in your private wallet or device's isolated key manager.
- Decentralized gig escrows are handled directly via smart contracts programmatically.
- All profile verifications are signed cryptographically to prevent spoofing.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access & Update: You can view and edit your profile info in the app, or inspect all on-chain data using any Solana blockchain explorer.
- Control: You have full control over your wallet and credentials. You can stop using SkillChain at any time.
- Deletion: Due to the immutable nature of blockchain technology, we cannot delete your on-chain data. Once information is written to the blockchain, it remains there permanently.
7. International Data Transfers
SkillChain operates globally. Your information may be processed and stored in jurisdictions outside of your country of residence, where our team or service infrastructure is located. By using the service, you consent to these international transfers.
8. Children's Privacy
SkillChain is not intended for individuals under the age of 18 (or the minimum age required by local laws). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to ignore that data within our application logic.
